The structure of the level 2 checklists follows that of level 1, but in a more detailed format.

Both the workbook and guidance are separated into two volumes. The combined volumes of the workbooks comprise 370 pages and the guidance comprise 314 pages. This guidance supports the corresponding Audit 123 Level 2 Health and safety in the workplace Workbook Volume 2 of 2. Each volume has a number of sections, two for volume 1 and nine for volume 2:

Each part has a number of audit requirements within it, for example see Part 4 below, which has nine audit requirements.

  • The existence of the health and safety policy.
  • Statement : Is it signed by Chairman/Managing Director/Chief Executive and dated.
  • Responsibilities : Clearly defined, key personnel identified.
  • Arrangements : Are there suitable arrangements for putting the health and safety policy into effect.
  • Is the main health and safety policy statement displayed.
  • Do all employees know where to view the health and safety policy.
  • Is the health and safety policy effective.
  • Is there a procedure for monitoring and reviewing the health and safety policy.
  • Have all employees been trained in the health and safety policy, its purpose and use.
